Ever wondered what living in a real-life scary movie or haunted house would be like? A Chillicothe business offers that experience in a family-friendly and safe environment.

"We give adults, teens, and children family fun entertainment without the crowd," said Matthew Cordial, Owner at Go Free Yourself Escape Room.

In teams of 4-8, each specialized escape room provides a 60-minute experience and requires players to solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategies to complete objectives and achieve a mission to escape from a room.

Beyond four walls, however, Go Free Yourself will also be hosting "Nightmare" at the Chillicothe Theatre where participants will be given 60 minutes to escape a specialized Halloween Escape Room.

Though standard hours are Friday 6:30 p.m.-11 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m., this unique event will go beyond the original three escape rooms located at their home facility.

"As the only permanent live escape room in the area, we offer something special," Cordial said. "Our rooms help the community by adding entertainment to the area to create a safe space for people to go."

Cordial added the uncommon nature of Go Free Yourself is what sets his business apart.

"Usually, live escape rooms are only in bigger cities, so having one in Chillicothe makes it special,” he said. “I pride myself in competing with the level of a bigger city escape room in our area. Just because it's in a smaller city doesn't mean that it's less quality."
